Non-clean and not fully reliable multi-period playback for VoD

I've made some simple multi-period VoD test material. It consists of 10s and 20s 30Hz sequences with on-screen frame counts. Each sequence plays to the last frame when played as VoD:

However, the combined multi-period content

does not show all the frames at the end of each period, and sometimes the new periods do not start although the buffer has the content. It works relatively well in Chrome 45 (but a few frames missing), and less well in Chrome 43.

Is there anything that can be changed in the player or in the content to make the transitions complete and more reliable?
